1:1 Meetings - Questions to be avoided
1:1 meetings provide great opportunity for managers to learn about an employee, his or her equations with other team members etc. Also, these meetings provide excellent platform for building trust within the team. Managers can listen, observe, learn and act on the visible and audio cues shared by the employees.
1:1 meetings are not daily stand up meetings and status updates should be avoided.
For effective 1:1 meetings, as a general rule, managers should avoid open ended questions. Instead ask specific leading questions that help employees to open up and share freely.
