Good managers care both professionally and personally

What differentiates a good manager?

Google in its now famous research project called 'Project Oxygen" extensively studied the behaviours of a good managers over a period of time.

One of the important things that differentiates a good manager is their demonstration of the care, both personal and professional, for their team members.

Professionally, managers can develop their teams by offering feedback, identifying opportunities for growth, and focusing on skill development.

Opportunities for growth do not always mean promotions. Good managers also consider the growth through lateral movements or creation of subject matter experts that is the go-to experts on the team.

Good managers earn their team's trust by demonstrating both through intent and actions that they care for their team member's personal wellbeing also through empathy and emotional intelligence.
