One Simple Thing - Personal Wellbeing

Good managers are mindful of not just the professional growth but also of the personal wellbeing of an employee.

Employees at Google use a technique called "One Simple Thing" to set their non-work related goals to improve their well-being and work-life balance.

Managers are encouraged to help employees and hold them accountable to achieve these non-work related goals.

Some examples of such "One Simple Thing" goals are:

  1. I will take a one hour break three times a week to work out."
  2. “I will leave the office by 6 pm twice per week to be able to play with my daughter before bed.”
  3. “I will not read emails on the weekends.”
  4. "I will disconnect on a one-week vacation this quarter.”
Wait! Before you go!
